The “wildfires” are really getting out of hand this time, so let’s do a quick review on how to support your health through all the smoke.
I will list them as “steps” but this is not an order of operations thing, I just wanted to distinguish between our options.
Step 1 is avoiding being in the smoke as best as you can – this is painful for me to say, as it is summer and we all want to be outside.
Ugh! And if you have to be outside for extended periods, maybe consider wearing a mask (N95 because smoke particles are tiny).
Yes, I hate masks, but this is one of those moments where it can actually serve a purpose.
And smoke is bad not only for our lungs, but the sinuses, the throat, and then that stuff gets into our blood and now the whole body gets upset.
I think everyone recognizes sinuses getting clogged or coughing as a reaction to the smoke…
… but I’ve also seen people get headaches (without sinuses acting up), nausea, fatigue, burning/red eyes, changes in bowel movements, poor sleep, increase in existing symptoms, and ear aches because of the smoke.
Each body can have its own way of reacting, really, so don’t wait for your body to show you symptoms since we already know smoke is bad.
Also, pound for pound, kids are more susceptible because they’re smaller but get exposed to the same amount of smoke.
Additionally, for the pregnant moms, that smoke getting into your blood can also get to your fetus. Please be careful.
Step 2 is having filters going in your home – this is one of the only times I don’t recommend opening your windows, and you do want a filter.
When the smoke is this bad, any filter at all (within reason) will start decreasing the burden in your home.
The Air Doctor is a solid choice all around to help you filter air (even when it’s not smoky, the paint, carpets etc are always off-gasing).
And even something as simple as a Tabletop Air Purifier will shift things in the right direction.
Step 3 is taking the right supplements, here’s what I’m doing:
- Lots of vitamin C throughout the day – as usual, it supports your immune system (supports, not boosts, we don’t want overactive immune systems), it’s an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, etc…
• make sure to take one regular vitamin C and one liposomal – the liposomal goes straight into your lymph system which needs extra help with all the smokiness, too. - A binder like ViRadChem Binder or HM-ET Binder from CellCore Biosciences (let’s get those toxins out that snuck past our barriers)
- R Lung and DetoxiGenic from Systemic Formulas – the lungs are doing overtime with the smoke, and DetoxiGenic will help the liver and keep up cellular energy for health function.
And this does go with step 3 but it’s used differently so we’ll call it step 4.
- Nebulizing Perfect Iodine – yes, I’m specific about this iodine because iodine is a noble gas, and this company has managed to capture the gas in distilled water. It just doesn’t get more pure than that!
- Pour 3ml of Perfect Iodine into the nebulizer reservoir and nebulize until it’s empty. I do this daily at the end of the day when it’s smoky.
- The Perfect Iodine will help clean up your sinuses, the back of your throat, and your lungs. It is anti-toxin and anti-pathogen, as well as supporting every cell in energy production and supporting your hormones.
And finally, step 5: handle the things that inflame you because there’s only so much you can do about the smoke.
- This includes cutting out sugar, as well as:
• get your sleep
• drink plenty of clean water
• don’t get stagnant, do some indoor rebounding to move your lymph
