Last week we talked about some great herbs you can grow in your own garden.
But there is one I didn’t mention that has incredible healing abilities.
Every part of this little plant can be used for our health.
Yet, a lot of people actually use heavy duty poisons that wreck our health, just to get rid of this little plant.
It’s so ironic, using poisons that harm us to remove something that helps heal us.
Who would’t want an easy to grow plant that helps with:
- Immune function
- Liver support
- Bone health
- Decreasing inflammation
- Supports digestion
- Supports your gums
Of course, this plant helps support other health aspects as well.
It may actually be more nutritious than a lot of vegetables that people grow on purpose.
And bonus, it helps the garden because its roots help aerate the earth, along with helping against erosion.
What is this little wonder plant you ask?
Dandelion.
I know some people go all out to keep dandelions out of their garden.
But I hope this mindset will shift over time.
It has always amazed me that we literally have our own little apothecary in our backyards…
… yet somehow big corporations managed to convince us that’s the last thing we should want.
So how can you use dandelions?
You can make salad out of the leaves
Tea from the roots, leaves, and flowers
Tincture from the roots and leaves
Now, if you have been using things like Roundup in your garden, you’ll want to stop using it (there are lots of lawsuits over glyphosate causing cancer now…)…
… and wait a few years before harvesting dandelion from your garden to make sure you don’t get more glyphosate into your system.
Building a raised garden bed is also an awesome way to start growing toxin free herbs and plants while you give your garden time to get rid of toxins.
And of course, flower pots are a great option, too!
Also important: if you’re allergic to chrysanthemums, daisies, ragweed, or marigolds, you’ll probably want to avoid dandelions as well.
Other than that, enjoy those beautiful yellow flowers!
