One of the most overlooked parts to our health is what is going on in our home. There can be all sorts of culprits hiding in every room of the house!

The big culprit I want to address today are chemicals.

Did you know the paint on your walls, the upholstered furniture, the carpeting, they are all off-gassing dangerous chemicals that can affect all aspects of your health.

But let’s start with smaller, more manageable items that you can easily change and that can have a huge impact on your health right now.

Have you ever read ingredient lists on your shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, body lotion, house cleaning products, and makeup?

I highly recommend you start doing so! The types of toxins that can be used in these products will be quickly absorbed by your skin and mucous membranes, and can have far reaching affects on your health.

Potential health problems from toxic chemicals in your household:

  • Weight gain
  • Immune disruption
  • ADHD
  • Menstrual problems
  • Thyroid issues
  • Neurological problems
  • Diabetes
  • Gastrointestinal issues
  • Cancer

So here is an abbreviated list of toxins to watch out for that can be causing your health problems, and if you do find you have a product containing these, seriously considering getting rid of it immediately.

It is not worth damaging your health over these!

  • Parabens
  • Phthalates and “fragrances”
  • Formaldehyde
  • Sulfates (whether it’s ammonium laurel sulfate or sodium lauryl sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate)
  • Sodium Chloride
  • Some other highly toxic household items to avoid include:
  • Scented candles
  • PVC shower curtains
  • Dryer sheets
  • Air fresheners

One key step is to reduce exposure wherever you can.

The products in your own home are a great place to start and can make a huge, positive impact.

The other key step is the work we do with you to safely get those chemicals out of your body again, and make you more resilient to other toxins.
